We have talked to our new colleague, Director of Information Technology, Lilantha Karunaratne, to hear more about his strategic plans, what kind of expertise he brings to AEC, and what he thinks of our company values.
One of our strategic key pillars at AEC is Technology. We strive to be as agile and innovative as possible in order to come up with the best solutions for our partners and customers around the globe.
Lilantha has worked in IT in various companies worldwide, many of whom you probably know, for example Samsung, Visa, Siemens, and Atos. Over the years, he finetuned his focus on program management in Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Amazon Web Services. He is also a seasoned expert in e-Commerce and digital transformation, has introduced cloud, PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS (Platform, Infrastructure, and Software as a Service) solutions to countless fields of business and always follows his own principle of leading, advocating, mentoring, and building-up IT service organizations in a proactive way. So many reasons for us to ask him a few questions:
AEC Blog Team:
What attracted you to join AEC?
Lilantha:
I have to admit, I’m a petrol head and huge fan of Dodge muscle cars. I love cars, motor sports, tuning, and everything around it, so that was just a great match.
AEC Blog Team:
What are the latest tech trends that you are most excited about?
Lilantha:
I am excited about all the new tech trends like IoT (Internet of Things), Cloud, AI, etc. to highlight a few. In general, I tend to keep an eye on all the tech trends and try to learn the most important and relevant ones for our needs and what suits us.
AEC Blog Team:
Do you have a personal mantra?
Lilantha:
Yes, “Curiosity, Self-Awareness, Self-Reflection and Empathy”.
I would even go further and summarize this with famous quotes like:
“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile” by Albert Einstein and
“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others” by Pericles. There is also a great article by Leigh Howes, that I’d like to recommend:

AEC Blog Team:
On a day off, we will most likely find you…
Lilantha:
Either cruising to explore a new city, country, or location OR cleaning, polishing, or tuning a car – my own or even friend’s cars. A safe bet for a third option would be trying to bring my own twist to a new recipe or dish.
AEC Blog Team:
What is your favorite book?
Lilantha:
“Who Moved My Cheese?” by Dr. Spencer Johnson. It shows an amazing way to deal with change in your work and in your life. (You can find it on Amazon – click here –)
