AEC, official importer of the Stellantis brands Dodge and RAM in Europe, has entered a partnership with Borla Performance Industries to launch a co-branded performance exhaust system for the RAM 1500 DT in Europe.
The research and development experts at AEC and Borla have joined forces and created a new exhaust system for the Ram 1500 DT in Europe. The exclusive stainless-steel product will be the first of its kind to pass all required ECE regulations in Europe. Borla’s extensive experience in performance exhaust manufacturing and the expertise of AEC’s Homologation and Engineering team, directed by Dany Hoffman, co-created a product tailored to RAM owners’ needs and desires in Europe. The result of this transatlantic cooperation is a newly developed muffler that replaces the stock central muffler section of the RAM 1500 DT with 5.7-Hemi-V8, bearing a designated “AEC by Borla” badge. To enhance the Hemi’s distinguished V8 sound, the exhaust deepens the stock note considerably and emphasizes the V8 rumble that enthusiasts and owners like so much on their American pickup truck.
“Joining forces with AEC to serve RAM owners in Europe has been a great experience, and we’re excited that the exhaust system we designed together is now available to the public. The needs of European truck owners are unique. After working closely with AEC, I’m proud that we’re able to meet their specific targets in product design and collectively deliver such a great product to RAM owners in Europe,”
said David Borla, VP Sales & Marketing, Borla.
The new exhaust will go on sale in late April and can be ordered exclusively through the AEC dealer network across Europe. The product is also available as an AEC factory spec option, installed on vehicles before delivery to dealerships. Retrofitting is possible on every 5th generation RAM past the 2019 model year and does not interfere with AEC’s standard new vehicle warranty. The exhaust system is compliant with sound regulations and road legal on all European markets..
„Es wird immer schwieriger, Auspuffanlagen zu entwickeln, die sowohl Emotionen wecken, als auch im Rahmen der geltenden Geräuschlimits zulässig sind – ganz besonders für großvolumige Motoren. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir gemeinsam mit Borla unser Auspuffangebot um ein Produkt erweitern konnten, dass unseren Kunden auch hierzulande die bekannt hochwertige Borla-Qualität liefert. Die RAM-Fahrer in Europa werden diesen Auspuff lieben,“Creating emotional exhaust products is getting increasingly challenging within the boundaries of European domestic sound regulations – especially for big displacement engines. We are thrilled to join forces with Borla to supplement our exhaust portfolio with a product that delivers the renowned engineering and sound quality that Borla customers around the globe hold in such high regard. The European RAM community will be excited about this great new product,”
stated Daniele Rossa, Head of After Sales, AEC.
The “AEC by Borla” Ram DT exhaust is one of many high-quality aftermarket accessories that AEC offers tailor-made to the needs of the European customers and domestic regulations. Through such collaboration efforts, foreign manufacturers like US-based exhaust specialist Borla Performance Industries can benefit from AEC’s vast knowledge on ever-changing compliance and certification standards for automotive parts and vehicles across Europe. Merging this with the manufacturer’s product R&D and manufacturing capabilities, AEC can offer an expanding range of exclusive parts and accessories to its European network of more than 130 dealers to appeal to the needs of European customers.
